Sg Lembing - Part 1 ~ Rest house

I went to Sg Lembing, Pahang, recently. The town is located about 30km from Gambang Toll, East Cost highway.

Sg Lembing used to be a tin mining town. During it's heyday (around 1900's), it's was known as the El Dorado of the East. It's mines are among the largest and deepest in the world.

# Arts on the wall ~ the SRJK(C) Sg Lembing

# Sg Lembing town in the evening (top) and morning. They have the smallest petrol kiosk in Sg Lembing or probably in the West Malaysia? One can only buy petrol from (if i remember correctly) from 7.30am to 12.00pm and 2.00pm to 6.00pm. I bought RM15 of petrol before I left the town on the second day.

# On a wet day. Not much activities during the day time. Most of the wooden shops have already been closed down. At night? Lagi teruk... The most you can find a few snooker centers and kopitiams. The mines were closed down in 1986 due to high operational costs and dropped in the world tin prices.

# The above is the rest house where I have stayed for 1 night. The rate can be considered reasonable ie RM40 for twin bed. If you have 4 persons, you can add RM20 extra for an extra bed. This rest house is located in the town area and very near to the market (for breakfast or lunch) and Panorama hill.

# This rest house is just like our home. You can almost find anything inside there.

# Want to play mahjong, UNO or 'Chor Tai Dee'... it's not a problem. Guests can watch Astro too. The only cons: No PS2 or Xbox... hah hah. Plus, each room has it's own split air-con.

CCTV camera records Mat Rempit attack

VIOLENT crime in progress: These pictures tell how 14 Mat Rempit ganged up to beat and rob five women during an early morning fuel stop in Bangsar.

A CCTV surveillance camera captured the attack on the three sisters and two of their cousins at the Shell petrol station in Jalan Bangsar.

Traumatised, they have vowed never to go to a petrol station again after dark..

Twelve young thugs, on six motorcycles, were said to be 'hovering around the station' while a pair on another motorcycle filled up as the women drove in about 3.30am on Saturday.

They were on their way home after a function in Puchong. Sisters Uma Munusamy, 33, Chittra, 32, and Latha, 31, were to drop off cousins Ragas Letchumanan, 28, and Komala, 20, at their Bangsar home when they decided to stop for fuel.

They drove up to a pump at the station. Latha went to the window counter to pay, while Chittra, who was driving, got out to fill up. That was when the Mat Rempit, who had been noisy and boisterous, moved in, as if acting on cue.

One thug attacked Latha, splashing a can of 'Red Bull' energy drink on her face.. The sweet-sour liquid stung her eyes, temporarily blinding her as the thug pushed her down, hit her with the drink can and snatched her gold chain and handphone.

Another three dashed to the car to attack the others.

'We were in fear.. We thought that we had been splashed with acid, as the liquid they threw on our faces really stung,' said Uma, recalling the attack.

The women screamed for help, but none arrived. The petrol station workers were safe and sound, inside the premises, where the doors had been locked at midnight.

'The workers just stood there, watching,' said Latha.

At the car, the Mat Rempit ordered the girls to hand over their valuables and handphones.

One of them just couldn't wait. He yanked Uma's gold bracelet off one wrist and at the same time snatched the handphone she held in the other hand.

Despite fearing for their lives, the girls put up a fight, trying to prevent the robbers from getting away with their belongings. The scuffles only led to injuries, but fortunately, minor ones.

Ragas was hit on the head several times, while Chittra sustained injuries on her neck and right arm, besides suffering an injury to the lower lip... She was then beaten up with a soda can.

'The whole incident really traumatised us but what was worse was the fact the workers did not even bother to help,' said Uma.

This is one nightmare they do not ever want to experience again. And, for them at least, no more filling up fuel at night, or stopping anywhere either during the wee hours. Their total loss: RM3,000 in cash and valuables.

The five made a report at the Brickfields police station soon after recovering from the shock of the attack. Police said they are investigating, and have yet to identify the culprits.

The women also expressed their frustration over the Mat Rempit menace. 'So much has been said, so much anger and frustration has been expressed over these motorcycle thugs... but yet they seem to be having a free run,' said Chittra.

Their only hope is that justice will be done, that the CCTV images captured by the surveillance camera will lead to arrests and conviction.

$$$ from blogging

My earnings from Nuffnang has finally reached slightly over than RM50.00. I do not blog regularly and the traffic to my blog is very low also. It took me about 9 months to reached at this level. Anyway, I am not going to cash it out so soon. Probably, will wait until it reach RM100.00.

I have just signed up for the Adsense few days ago. So far, no earnings.

To bloggers out there, if you have yet to sign up with Nuffnang, what are you waiting for?

My car is my boss

I spent most of my time and $$$ as well this weekend at the car workshop.
sad01

Yesterday, I sent my car to the workshop for a major service. The mechanic changed the gear oil, serviced the radiator plus other standard things like engine oil, air filter, spark plugs and etc. Total bill came up to RM332.00 inclusive labour charges. If I were to sent it to those normal Chinaman workshop, the bill is rarely exceeding RM50.00 (cos I bought my own engine oil as I only use Petronas Syntium).swt01

I have this habit to send my car to the Proton authorised service centre once a year. This Proton authorised service centre, ie Senaxis Sdn Bhd, is my favorite car workshop from day 1. It's located at Taman Mayang Jaya. Their service is good! (I guess you know who is running the workshop la...) wink

Today, I went to another car workshop to repair my car's drive shaft and get the wheels aligned & balanced up. This round, the total cost is RM242.00. RM574.00 in two days? Not bad huh...
scared ~ but nevermind, I'm waiting for my increment news end of this month. Not sure got or not. swt

Anyway, those are normal wear and tear thing. I am fine with it as long as the car serves me well.

Two more Shell Ferrari model cars

I bought two more Shell Ferrari model cars this week ie F2008 and my favorite F430 Scuderia.
psst: Don't you think F430 Scuderia looks very NICE?

Garmin Mobile XT on Nokia e71

I have successfully installed the Garmin Mobile XT on my Nokia e71 and using the Malsing map. The e71 came with the pre-installed Nokia map. However, it's only valid for 3 months after which ones got to pay to use.

The e71 has the built-in GPS satellites receiver. So, not a problem to install extermal GPS navigator provider like Garmin. Garmin Mobile XT runs on the Symbian S60 platform.

If you need more details on the Garmins Mobile XT, please visit www.malsingmaps.com/forums/. The forum have many discussions on how to install Garmin Mobile XT into PDAs or smartphones.

Malsing map is available for download at FOC. There are two versions i.e. West Malaysia-Singapore map and East Malaysia map. However, the free download version is not the latest one. Ones got to pay as well for the latest version. The West Malaysia-Singapore map that I am using is last updated at 1Jan 2008.

Just to test out the Malsing map, I have selected to go to Giant Kinrara from Pelican factory, near Puchong Koi Tropika. Go to the Point of Interest (PIO) menu and select the Grocery and select the desired location.

After selected the desired location, just click the Go button or you can view the map as well.

The navigator has the voice instruction to tell how far the selected POI from your current location.

It tells which turn to take (left or right), how many metres before the turning, go take a ramp ahead or to make a u-turn. If you missed a turn, the navigator will re-calculate the routing and direct you back to the correct alternative direction.

Here is another picture after turning into Jalan Bukit Jalil-Puchong from the LDP near the IOI mall.

Finally, I reached with destination ie Giant Kinrara without any problem.

Will test the Garmin navigator out of the city to see if it workable.

My lucky draw prize

I have just attended my company annual dinner last Friday. That's correct! On Friday the 13th. But, nothing had gone bad huh.

This year, my lucky number is 117. My number was being called during the 1st round of the lucky draw. I have chosen the prize number of 94 and here you go...

However, i did not expect anything nice from ALBA T__T (my other colleague got a Cerruti watch, damn it).

Today, I collected the prize from the committee and it has a nice white color box:

On the inside.... nothing special about the watch except for the water resistant up to 5 bars. It has no date as well.

The funny is that the watch was being purchased on 25 May 2008 with less than 3 months warranty period left... wtf.

There is one more thing... can you spot it?

Anyway, so far my record is 66.6% i.e. going back without empty handed for the past 3 years... hah hah

but not successful), instant messenger and push emails.

Funny Nokia Phone

This Nokia phone is really weird and funny. Just take a look at the below pictures.

I am not sure the model of this phone. It has those PDA kind of stylus to navigate the menu on the screen. It took me few minutes to figure out on how to use the stylus. I used the stylus to touch on screen few times (so stupid... -.-III)

Finally, I found out that there is a hidden touch pad behind the keypad. Haiiiii.... I just need to flip the keypad out la... LOL
