Wives Of Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

HAH!!! It's Friday already... ^_^

Why did the chicken cross the road?

BARACK OBAMA:
The chicken crossed the road because it was time for a CHANGE! The chicken wanted CHANGE!

JOHN MCCAIN:
My friends, that chicken crossed the road because it recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

HILLARY CLINTON:
When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure -- right from Day One! -- that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't about me.......

GEORGE W. BUSH:
We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here.

JOHN LENNON:
Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing the road together, in peace.

BILL GATES:
I have just released eChicken2008, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your check book. Internet Explorer is an integral part of the Chicken. This new platform is much more stable and will never cra...#@&&^(C% .......... reboot.

BILL CLINTON:
I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What is your definition of chicken?

AL GORE:
Chicken shall not shit while crossing the road. This is for a green environment.

LEE KUAN YEW:
We have installed crossing lights at all traffic junctions. All chickens should follow instructions while crossing the road.

SAMY VELLU:
Gantry points have been set up. All chickens wanting to cross the road are advised to top up their cash cards first.

SHAHRIR:
All foreign chickens are welcome in Malaysia but they must not cross over the road within 50km of the border.

NAJIB:
What chickens? I don't know any chickens... especially those from Mongolia.

BADAWI:
We have to be fair to all chickens. Some want to cross over the road, some do not. ........ Zzzzzz .......zzzzzz ....... Now what were we talking about? Ah yes, chickens. We will form a Royal Commission to decide whether it is right for them to cross the road.

MAHATHIR:
Now even non-bumi chickens want to cross the road! How can they disrespect and disregard apa nama bumi chickens? We must be allowed to cross over first. It is our special privilege and no one can challenge that!

And, finally... the GRAND liner......

ANWAR:
We have enough chickens waiting to cross over on... Woi! Where are all the chickens!!!???

Our DPM, Najib is going to blog.... soon?? =O

Saw it from the Star Online, our Deputy Prime Minister, Najib, has setup his own website, 1Malaysia.

By the way, where is your blog sir?

How deep can it goes?

First, we have seen the US Investment Bank, Lehman Brothers (a 158 year old institution), collapsed. A report said that some 30 per cent of the bank’s equity was held by employees and many bonuses were paid in shares. Now those holdings are all but worthless. Some staff were also told not to expect a paycheck at the end of the month and that they might even be liable for expenses on their corporate credit cards.

Then, Merrill Lynch is up for sale for roughly $50 billion (to Bank of America) to avert a deepening financial crisis
.

Once-proud financial institutions have been brought to their knees as a result of hundreds of billions of dollars in losses because of bad mortgage finance and real estate investments.

Another credit crisis loomed as the insurance giant American International Group (IAG) appeared to teeter. AIG sought a $40 billion lifeline from the Federal Reserve, without which the company may have only days to survive. AIG is under pressure to sell off some of its most valuable assets (aircraft leasing, annuities?) in a bid to quickly shore up it's capital.

Even Goldman Sachs was not invulnerable to the ongoing credit crisis as it reported a 70% decline in quarterly profits today.

I will call up the local AIA's Customer Service Officer tomorrow to check whether I should surrender my policy just to stir up the AIG's sentiment a bit... hah hah. So bad huh.

Syed Hamid Albar - ISA is for peoples under threats

I thought this must be a Sunday's joke coming from our Home Minister as reported by The Star Online.

Background on ISA

The
Internal Security Act 1960 is a preventive detention law in force in Malaysia.
It allows for the arrest of any person without the need for trial in certain defined circumstances.

Section 8(1) of the ISA provides that ‘(i)f the minister (Guess who is the minister-in-charge?) is satisfied that the detention of any person is necessary …’ then s/he may issue an order for his/her detention. The three grounds given in Section 8(1) upon which the order may be based is where a person has acted in any manner prejudicial to the:

a) security of Malaysia or part thereof; or [like this????]

b) maintenance of essential services; or

c) economic life.

The power to detain seems to be restricted by Section 8(1) to a period not exceeding two years but the restriction is really illusionary because, by virtue of Section 8(7), the duration of the detention order may be extended for a further period not exceeding two years and thereafter for further periods not exceeding two years at a time. The extension to the detention order may be made on the same ground as those on which the original order was based or on different grounds.

First 60 days

A person detained under the ISA during the first 60 days is held incommunicado, with no access to the outside world. Furthermore, lawyers and family members are not allowed access to the detainee during this initial period. If a two-year detention order is signed, the detainee is taken to the Kamunting Detention Centre to serve his or her two-year term, during which family members are allowed to visit. Otherwise, the detainee may be released.

Questions:
  1. How can the police detained a person who is under 'threat' using the ISA?
  2. If the Home Minister did not give his order, how can the police carry out the arrest under ISA?
Dear Home Minister, could you please clarify again!? Someone got to be kicked at their butts.

Books from Kinokuniya

I went to Kinokuniya to look for some books this evening after the tax seminar. I don't want to queue at the Mandarin Hotel's basement as all the seminar participants are rushing to get their cars.

Found some interesting books.

#1 - It looks easy to get rich from the stock market. It says "Aim Hi Formula for The New Century - Maximum Profits at Minimum Risk". But it did not mention whether the $1 mil is made within a week, a month, a year or a decade.

#2 - This one is even better, the author claimed to make $2 mil from the stock market. I wanted to find the 3rd version i.e. how to make $3 mil from the stock market but I couldn't find it.

#3 - I think we need "Stock Wizards" to do that... LOL

#4 - No comment ^_^

#5 - I think this is the best - "How To Get Beautiful Women Into Bed". Wow, does it really works?

#6 - The author of this book wanted to remain anonymous.

I bought two books from the bookstore.

The 1st book is "Buffettology". I think can find some information on the investing approach the way Buffett does, proven method of investing, some mathematics equations to assist the decisions making and how Buffett select his stocks.

The 2nd book is a guide to cocktails and drinks.

This book gives an overview of type of drinks like spirits, liqueurs, wine, champagne, beer, cider and non-alcoholic mixers. Besides that it also consists of the bartending techniques and how to make drinks.
